UIN for France: what it is, where Amazon asks for it, which line is ours
Direct answer: A UIN for France is the French producer registration number (IDU), format FRxxxxxx_xx, issued per EPR category by the eco-organisation a producer is registered with and listed in ADEME's public register. Amazon's environmental compliance section asks, per country, for the producer declaration, the registration number of each category and, for a producer outside France, an authorised representative established in France. Three of those details are yours; the representative is the line UIN France fills. It is you who determine which categories your products fall under.
This page is written for the seller who has just seen, in Seller Central, a French line in environmental compliance. It explains the number, the screen, the French rules behind it and the service, in that order. Every other page of this site links back here.
1. The number: UIN, IDU, EPR registration number
France keeps a national register of producers for each extended producer responsibility scheme. When a company registers with the eco-organisation approved for a category, the French agency ADEME issues an identifiant unique (IDU): FR, six digits, an underscore, two digits. Amazon's help pages call it UIN or EPR registration number. There is one per category: a seller registered for packaging and for electrical equipment holds two. The register is public (number check).
The four details Amazon asks for, and which one is ours
Independent worksheet, not a Seller Central screen. The wording below follows the way Amazon's help pages describe the environmental compliance section; the screen you see is Amazon's and may change.
| Detail | What goes there | Who provides it |
|---|---|---|
| Country | France | you already have it |
| Producer | your company name, as registered | you already have it |
| Registration number (UIN) | FRxxxxxx_xx, one per EPR category | we obtain it from the French eco-organisation |
| Authorised representative | REP·Pro (UIN France), Béziers, France | that is us, once the mandate is accepted |
The EPR category is the line of the screen that names what you sell (packaging, electrical equipment, batteries, textiles…); one registration number belongs to one category.

5. Where Amazon asks
6. The French rules in four lines
The producer is whoever first places a product and its packaging on the French market, wherever it is established. Each category has its approved eco-organisations and its own registration. A producer with no establishment in France can, under article L. 541-10-9-1 of the Code de l'environnement (applicable since 10 July 2026), appoint, by written mandate, a representative established in France. Whether your company is a producer, and for which lines, is yours to establish from those texts; this site supplies the criteria and the service.
7. The service
UIN France registers you with the eco-organisation of each category you tick, obtains the number, files the declarations from your volumes and fills the representative line. One category €29 a month, up to three €59, up to six €89, 12-month plan, no setup fee; beyond six categories, monthly billing only. Pricing · Mandate · Status · FAQ.
FAQ
Is a UIN the same as an IDU or an EPR number?
Yes. IDU is the French term (identifiant unique), UIN the name used in Amazon's help pages, EPR registration number the generic name. Same number, same format, one per category.
Who issues the number?
The French agency ADEME, through the eco-organisation of the category, after registration. Amazon reads the number; it does not issue it.
Can one number cover all my categories?
No. Each French scheme has its own registration and number. Amazon's screen has one line per category for that reason.
What does the representative line change?
It names the company established in France that carries the producer's formalities under a written mandate, as French law allows since 10 July 2026. UIN France (REP·Pro, Béziers) is such a representative.
Where can I read what a number is attached to?
In ADEME's public register of producers, available as open data. Our number check page gives the link and explains the format; it does not say whether a number is valid.
