FAQ: the French EPR screen on Amazon, in sellers' questions

Updated 15 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: These are the questions sellers ask when Seller Central shows a French line in environmental compliance. Each answer names the French rule or the Amazon help page it rests on, and none decides your case: it is you who determine which categories your products fall under.

Ten questions, in the words sellers use. The reference page is UIN for France; the thirty situations are listed there; the number format is on number check; the price on pricing.

UIN France is not affiliated with Amazon. None of these answers decides whether your company is a producer under French law.

FAQ

Amazon asks for a UIN. Is that a French number or an Amazon number?

A French number: the producer registration number (IDU) issued by ADEME through the eco-organisation of the category. Amazon reads it; it does not issue it.

How many numbers do I need?

One per category line you tick: packaging, electrical equipment, batteries, textiles and so on each have their own French registration.

I enrolled in Pay on Behalf. Do I still need a number?

Amazon's help pages, read on 12 October 2026, describe the service as covering Amazon.fr sales in a covered category and still show the registration number field. Holding your own number covers all your channels. It is you who determine which route applies to you.

Who is the authorised representative, and why is there a line for it?

A company established in France that carries the producer's French formalities under a written mandate, as article L. 541-10-9-1 of the Code de l'environnement allows since 10 July 2026. REP·Pro (UIN France), Béziers, is such a company.

How long until I get the number?

We do not state a delay: the eco-organisation issues the number at its own pace, and we send it to you in writing as soon as it is issued. The status page shows where each procedure stands.

What does it cost, exactly?

Starter €29 a month or €249 a year, Pro €59 or €590, Complete €89 or €890, €12 a month per additional line beyond six up to eight (monthly billing only). 12-month plan, no setup fee. Eco-contributions are separate.

Do you log in to my Seller Central?

Never. You enter the number yourself; we send it in writing.

Can I use my supplier's number?

The number belongs to the company that placed the goods on the French market. The public register shows which company a number is attached to; whether your supplier is the producer for your goods is a determination you make from the French texts.

Is UIN France affiliated with Amazon?

No. Seller Central wording is quoted only to help you find the right page.

What happens after I pay?

You accept the mandate online with a time-stamped box, upload three documents, and we register you with the eco-organisation of each line. You receive the number in writing; the representative line is already filled.
