Toys: the French EPR line on Amazon and the scheme behind it

Updated 17 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: The toys line corresponds to the French toys scheme, created in 2022 for toys and games placed on the French market. One eco-organisation is approved for it, Ecomaison; the registration gives one unique identifier for this scheme, which is what the line expects. A seller established outside France obtains it through a representative established in France.

What the category covers

Toys and games sold to consumers, with or without electronics: dolls, construction sets, board games, outdoor toys, puzzles, soft toys. A toy with a battery or a plug also meets the batteries and the electrical lines, each with its own number.

The eco-organisation and the number

Approved by the French state for toys: Ecomaison. The fee is calculated per unit or per kg, by product family; the tariff versions, their dates and the official documents are on the public register of FrenchEPR. After registration, one identifier (FRxxxxxx_xx) for this scheme, listed in the French public register — the line of the screen expects that one, not a number of another scheme.

What UIN France does for this line

Under a written mandate, REP·Pro registers your company with the eco-organisation of this scheme, obtains the identifier in your name, prepares and files the declarations from the volumes you give, and stands as the representative established in France. The eco-organisation invoices its own contributions; we pass them on without margin. This line alone is the Starter plan (€29 a month, 12-month plan); with other lines it counts towards Pro or Complete.

UIN France is not affiliated with Amazon. It is you who determine which schemes your products fall under and whether your company is the producer under French law; this page explains the line and the French rule, it does not decide your case.

FAQ

Is a toy with a battery declared twice?

The toy itself falls under the toys scheme; its battery under the batteries scheme and, if it is electrical, the equipment under the WEEE scheme. Three registrations, three numbers, one per line of the screen.

Who is the eco-organisation for toys?

Ecomaison is the eco-organisation approved by the French state for the toys scheme; the registration and the number come through it. The tariff lines are published on FrenchEPR, with their date.

Do board games and puzzles count as toys?

The French scheme covers games and toys for children; whether a given item is in scope is a determination you make from the French texts and Ecomaison’s nomenclature.
