Electric vehicle batteries: the French EPR scheme behind the line

Updated 17 October 2026 · by Bachir Djebaili, founder of REP·Pro

Direct answer: Batteries of electrified vehicles (category 5 of the French batteries regulation: e-bikes, e-scooters, cars) have their own French scheme, distinct from portable batteries. Recycler Mon Véhicule is the eco-organisation approved for it; the registration gives one identifier for this scheme.

What the category covers

Traction batteries of light electric vehicles and cars, sold alone or with the vehicle: e-bike batteries, e-scooter packs, replacement traction batteries. Portable batteries (remote controls, power tools) stay in the portable batteries scheme.

The eco-organisation and the number

Approved by the French state for batteries of electrified vehicles: Recycler Mon Véhicule. The fee is calculated per battery or per kg; the tariff versions, their dates and the official documents are on the public register of FrenchEPR. After registration, one identifier (FRxxxxxx_xx) for this scheme, listed in the French public register — the line of the screen expects that one, not a number of another scheme.

What UIN France does for this line

Under a written mandate, REP·Pro registers your company with the eco-organisation of this scheme, obtains the identifier in your name, prepares and files the declarations from the volumes you give, and stands as the representative established in France. The eco-organisation invoices its own contributions; we pass them on without margin. This line alone is the Starter plan (€29 a month, 12-month plan); with other lines it counts towards Pro or Complete.

UIN France is not affiliated with Amazon. It is you who determine which schemes your products fall under and whether your company is the producer under French law; this page explains the line and the French rule, it does not decide your case.

FAQ

I sell e-bike batteries. Portable or vehicle batteries?

A traction battery of an electrified vehicle, e-bike included, falls under the vehicle batteries scheme; a cell for a torch under portable batteries. The French texts define the categories; you determine where your product sits.

Does the e-bike itself need another number?

Yes: the e-bike is electrical equipment (WEEE scheme) and, if sold complete, the vehicle schemes may apply too; each has its own registration and number.

Which eco-organisation?

Recycler Mon Véhicule holds the French approval for batteries of electrified vehicles; its tariff versions and their dates are on FrenchEPR.
